UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING THE

2010 AAHA SHOW FACILITY

The Covington Center, Andalusia, Alabama

Many rumors have gotten out about the Covington Center and changes that have been made there. Many were negative and miss-information. In attempt to update you and clear up any negative rumors and comments, we would like to share/inform you about changes that have been made at the facility.

The Covington Center is still owned by Covington County and is now leased by an individual that will be continuing equine events and shows while at the same time inviting new venues for their county.

A group from the AAHA Show Committee have been to the facility several times, met and visited with the new people leasing the facility. These were very positive visits promising hope for the future betterment of our show.

CHANGES:

*Stall isles are now paved - no more red dirt and mud

*Ends of stall area have been built up - no more flooding of the front stalls closest to the show arena

*Stalls are now paved - like that of the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington

*All camper hookup area is paved complete with lines painted creating designated slots for RV and LQ Horse trailers

*Wash racks and restrooms are the same - hot water in wash racks and handicapped accessible restrooms

*Arena is the same with the EXCEPTION that it now has totally NEW footing - tremendously improved from years past

*Outdoor arena is the same

*OLD covered warm up is now stalls toward road and toward horse barns with wide isle up center leading in to show arena - prepared for shows with acceptable footing

*Barn area of stalls closest to outdoor arena is no longer and is now a nice, large covered warm up arena with very good footing

*More stalls on opposite side of barn (opposite of what is now covered warm up arena)

*Stall isles between barn rows are narrow. Tables and chairs can be set up for before and after show hours, but may  not allow safe passage for horses and exhibitors during the show.

*The folks leasing the facility were very kind, eager to please and we look forward to a very positive working relationship with these folks.

*A complete presentation of the changes at the Covington Center Arena was presented at the October 18th AAHA Membership Meeting and the December 5, 2009 Chritmas Meeting & Banquet. Pictures and facility diagrams were available for better visualization of the facility and the changes made to date.

IN CLONCLUSION:

Hopefully this will stop rumors, negative information and concerns and inform everyone with accurate information about the facility. The facility is very nice, with a lot of positive improvements and we look forward to working with the new folks leasing this facility.
